I don't even know how to start with the things I loved about this. - Your writing is so very very lyrical that it has a similar effect on me that good poetry does. I'm just sitting there, admiring and being too caught up in the flow and sheer beauty of the words and the pacing of the sentences and the cadence of it all to find proper words to praise it. Bit of a bummer, that.
Sean's pov is just so very spot on. He seems like a man who doesn't speak all that much, doesn't really trust words that are spoken out loud, which doesn't mean that he isn't eloquent enough in his own head. It's something that makes him very observant and at the same time seem so closed off. The fact that so much of his afternoon with Viggo is narrated not with direct speech but with Sean's thoughts on what they were talking about and how it all felt to him, that feels very fitting for him.
And trust Viggo to appear and break through it without being an intrusion. Again, something that your marvelous way with words is able to capture is how absolutely fascinated Sean is with him from the very first moment on. - I love the little trick with the horse, so Viggo and so light and playful that it acts as the perfect counterpart to Sean's maybe somewhat brooding view of the world. The description of his smile and what he says to Sean, such mundane and easy small talk kind of things, both work together perfectly to pull Sean out of his inner monologue and right towards Viggo.
The way they are together feels so very, very right. Again, it seems like something very fitting for Sean - he is a very thoughtful person and ponders a lot on this and that and probably prefers thinking twice before acting rashly, but at the same time he is someone not ashamed of what he wants and not too timid to go for it. I really liked that because it makes him, too, an uncomplicated character and it makes so much sense that he and Viggo fit together. It goes without saying that the entire sex scene is marvelous, I suppose. You switch so elegantly between very graphic and seriously hot descriptions of what's happening and these very carefully and beautifully captured thoughts and feelings that once again I feel like I'm completely carried away with the momentum, just like Sean and Viggo themselves are.
The entire ending made me smile - knowing what we as readers do, that of course Viggo will come back, makes Sean's sulking and grouchiness seem almost adorable and sweet while at the same time there is enough weight to it (again, thanks to this beautiful, beautiful way of phrasing things that is so very you) that we feel deeply for him and feel his relief and happiness when (once again so very uncomplicatedly) Viggo comes back to him in the end.
Thank you again for this wonderful story. I feel spoiled and will read it again many times and am sure that I'll discover more and more gems in it each and every time. Thank you!
