Your Viggo is so caught up in his 'plan' that for the bulk of the journey down he is not really aware of what is happening with the one person he wants to connect with. It is only at the end, when he lets go of his plan and simply responds to your Sean, himself now released from the unnatural stresses of the descent, that he realises the enormity of what has happened to him. Very touching scene.
