OMG!!! Wow!!! This fic is such a wonderful, wonderful surprise after the last week or so (which hasn't been so great). The story is lush and lovely, and the themes that interweave art and love and despair and temptation and obsession and damnation are not just enough to float my boat: they can support my entire armada. ^_^
I adore the sense of place and setting in this fic and the bits about fashioning the eggs. I've always been fascinated by them, and the Cleveland Museum of art had a Faberge exhibit where there were many of the eggs and also jeweled flowers. I swear I stayed in the exhibit halls for hours just going back and forth between them, and I got myself a wee egg pendant afterwards.
I also love how the story between the men fits into the story of the gods. I also like the contrast between the quiet build between the mortals as opposed to the violent explosion between the gods. Oh, and the details about the cologne and the food and the colors of the eggs, just lovely!
Hmmmm. I'd guess this was splix, though I don't see her on the authors list. Must ponder....
