This is mostly a placeholder post to keep the community from being deleted for inactivity, but it's also an announcement that I'm going to make a back-up of it on Dreamwidth to make sure the posts are archived somewhere. If you don't want your posts saved there, let me know and I'll make sure they get deleted.

I don't use Dreamwidth (I'll be setting up a temporary journal so I can save a copy of the community, but my actual journal is staying here on LJ) so if anyone who *is* moving wants to take over the comm on that site, just let me know and I'll figure out how to switch ownership/moderation/whatever it's called :).

Hey, there. I am so sorry that I wasn't able to organize the exchange this year. Things are just a little out of control at the moment.

Obviously, it's too late to do it this year, especially with holiday exchanges just around the corner, but if anyone's interested in my posting the roulette prompts I'd be happy to put a table together and set it so people can post to the comm directly.

Hopefully we can pick things up again next year, but until then let me know if you'd like some additional writing prompts to tickle your VigBean creativity.

Hey there, VigBean lovers! I'm still here and hoping to have another year of fun with Sean and Viggo. I'm going to work on getting the sign-up post up by the weekend, and right now it looks like the schedule will shift by a couple of weeks from last year (I'm thinking sign-ups will end June 15, with assignments out by June 17; the first drabble/flash fiction deadline July 14; fics due August 18).

I'm sorry for not kicking things off earlier this month, but I hope many of you will want to participate. Look for the sign-up post to be up by Saturday at the latest. :-)

Thanks to all of you, the VigBean writers and readers, to everyone who loves the pairing, this has been another fantastic year. So many wonderful stories to enjoy, the variety just completely out of this world. I had a blast and I hope all of you did as well. And there are more comments being left on all the stories, so writers may want to go back and have a look.

Authors, you may now post your stories (roulette round two and exchange) to your journals and other comms if you wish. I will be sending each of you a participant banner (made by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] stormatdusk) in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for that.

Thanks again! And I'm already looking forward to next year. :-)

Roulette players from round one, you may now post your wonderful stories elsewhere (your journals, other comms, archives, etc.). Thank you for kicking off this year's VigBean celebration in such a great way!

Exchange stories and the second round of roulette fics are both due on Sunday, July 24, a week and a half away. The previously posted submission instructions still apply, and if you believe you'll need an extension or are having any trouble completing your story, please get in touch with me sooner rather than later. Roulette fics will be posted on July 27; the exchange will go live on July 31.

Thanks again, and as always if you have any questions, please let me know.

Hello. Assignments and roulette prompts have been out for nearly a couple of weeks now; I hope you're doing well and have found inspiration. :-) As a little something extra to get you in the mood, courtesy of Google here's a song I call "Variations on VigBean" (I'll put the "lyrics" in a comment).

The first deadline for drabbles and flash fics is three weeks away, on Friday, July 1. However, because writers could decide to write more than one piece for each number on the roulette wheel they chose, you do have until July 24 to turn everything in. Exchange writers, you also have until July 24 (about six weeks) to complete your stories and send them in.

Please use the following header information when submitting your drabble or story (right click and "select all" in the box below to copy and paste into your document):

Please format your stories as you would for an LJ post and include a blank line between paragraphs. If you're using any formatting in your document (bold, italics, centering, etc.), please use basic html codes. If you need help with your coding, please let me know; I'm more than happy to help. It would be lovely if you replaced smart quotes, ellipses, m- and n-dashes before sending the file. I'm not requiring it, but it would be appreciated.

Please make sure to include your name as part of the file name so that I can keep all submissions organized. All stories must be sent as an attachment to vbmods@gmail.com as a plain text document (.txt file). You can either copy the text from your word processing software and paste it into Notepad or TextEdit and then save as a text file, or from Word (or any other word processing software) do a "save as" and save your original document as a text file.

Thanks again for participating. If you have any questions, let me know. :-)

All of the exchange assignment and roulette prompt e-mails have been sent. If you haven't received something from the vbmods e-mail account, let me know as soon as possible. When you receive it, please take a quick look at the request and/or your prompts on the bingo card, and then get back to me to let me know you're good to go.

Details about formatting and coding will be e-mailed and posted to the comm in the next few weeks. Have fun and keep in touch; I'm more than happy to answer questions or help in any way.

In a little over a week sign-ups will close for the VigBean fic exchange and flash fiction roulette.

[livejournal.com profile] wordsontongue is fun and flexible. You can write anything from drabbles to multi-chapter fics, RPS to FPS, any style, any genre: the only limit is where your imagination takes you.

Join us in celebrating this flirty and charismatic duo!

I will be e-mailing participant banners to everyone in the next few days; if you do not receive an e-mail from the vbmods gmail account in a week or so please let me know. but patience has never been my strong point. :-) There are 24 fics to read but I see no reason to wait another 24 hours. Everything is coded (hopefully correctly) and randomly sorted (for a posting order) so we're ready to go!

Please check back in the next few hours for a bonanza of VigBean love!
[identity profile] vbmods.livejournal.com
Hello again. I apologize for not checking in sooner; I hope you're doing well and have found your assignment(s) inspiring.

I know that things can come up unexpectedly for everyone, so if you find that your schedule is tight or if you believe you're going to have a hard time making the deadline (July 1 for drabbles/flash fics; July 24 for exchange fics) for any reason and anticipate needing an extension let me know so I can help work things out with you.

The first deadline for drabbles and flash fics is this Thursday, July 1. However, because writers could decide to write more than one piece for each number on the roulette wheel they chose, you do have until July 24 to turn everything in. Whatever is finished and ready to be posted now should be sent to vbmods@gmail.com by the end of the day on Thursday (but since I won't be doing the coding and formatting checks until I get up on Friday, if it's sent overnight during the eastern time zone that's perfectly fine too). Anything I receive after that time will be posted with the exchange fics later in July.

Please use the following header information when submitting your drabble or story (right click and "select all" in the box below to copy and paste into your document):

All stories must be sent as an attachment to vbmods@gmail.com as a Word or plain text document. If sending in Word, please copy and paste the document into Notepad first to strip out any coding, then copy and paste back into Word before saving.

If you're using any formatting in your document (bold, italics, centering, etc.), please use basic html codes. If you need help with your coding, please let me know; I'm more than happy to help. Please make sure to include your name as part of the file name so that I can keep all submissions organized.

Thanks again for participating. If you have any questions, let me know. :-)

Remember that old Heinz ketchup ad, anticipation? I hate to do it to you but once we get our last story in we'll be ready to enjoy all the wonderful VigBean tales. It won't be long now. :-)

The fic exchange stories should be up tonight along with the next set of roulette fics. If you haven't finished your roulette stories, no worries. Just send them in when you're finished and I'll post them right away. I'm just excited to see what you came up with whenever they're completed. I intend to write a couple myself so I'm right there with you.

One note about the fic exchange headers: I've greyed out all the warnings (except for one story where it was there for the joke) even those for fluff or domestic. I know technically that wasn't necessary, but I started feeling like I was making a judgment call about what was included in certain fics and I didn't like that. So everyone has greyed out warnings and people will have to highlight the box to see them. I hope that works for all of you. It seemed like a good compromise at the time.

While the roulette names will be public, the fic exchange authors are hidden. Names will be revealed in a week (July 27) at which time everyone (roulette and fic exchange writers) are free to post in their own journals and other comms.

Here's a list of the 2009 fic exchange participants. Thanks to all of you for your creativity and patience. *hugs*

First, I want to thank everyone for participating in this year's exchange and flash fiction roulette. It has been a lot of fun and I'm thinking the roulette needs to make a more regular appearance, maybe two or three times a year. There are so many creative people in this community, we might as well give them another place to showcase that talent.

It looks like we're going to have a small delay getting the exchange stories posted. Rather than have them up on Sunday, the stories will be posted on Monday. I know it's another 24 hours of waiting but I hope you think it'll be worth it. Once again the variety of stories is great, and some people really challenged themselves with subjects and genres they hadn't written before (and were very successful with it). So please hang out for one extra day and come back here Monday afternoon to see what gems have been produced this year.
[identity profile] vbmods.livejournal.com
Happy Saturday, everyone! I forgot to pop in a couple of days ago to remind everyone you're free to post the roulette fics from the first round anywhere you like: your journal, other comms, archives. Spread these fantastic stories around; everyone should have a chance to see the level of extraordinary creativity exhibited here.

This is just a gentle reminder that all stories and the next set of roulette fics are due by July 12. Let me know right away if you think you're going to have a difficult time making the deadline so I can help work out some arrangement with you.
