"Looks Like Rain" lyrics
Artist(Band): Grateful Dead
Awoke today, felt your side of the bed;
The covers were still warm where you been layin'.
You were gone, oh gone, my heart was filled with dread;
You might not be sleeping here again.
But it's all right cause I love you, and that's not going to change.
Run me around and make me hurt again and again.
But I'll still sing you love songs, written in the letters of your name.
And brave the storm to come, for it surely looks like rain
Did you ever waken to the sound of street cats making love?
And guess from their cries you were listening to a fight.
Well you know, hate's just the last thing they're thinking of.
They're only tryin' to make it thru the night.
I only want to hold you, I wouldn't want to tie you down
Or fence you in with lines I might've drawn.
It's just that I, oh I, have gotten used to havin' you around.
My landscape would be empty, if you were gone;
But it's all right cause I love you, and that's not going to change.
Run me around, make me hurt again and again.
But I'll still sing you love songs, written in the letters of your name.
And brave the storm to come, for it surely looks like rain.
A lonesome figure standing at the edge of the wooden pier, shadowy against the background. Viggo moves sleepily towards the shape, rubbing his eyes and yawning loudly as he approaches. The man at the edge does not react.
Viggo puts his hand on the man's shoulder and he jumps. He pulls the headphones out of his ears and Viggo can hear The Grateful Dead's "Looks like Rain" blaring out of them.
"I woke up and you weren't there. Couldn't get back to sleep without you," he complains. Sean looks into his still sleepy and sad blue eyes. "I am sorry, Vig. I didn't meant to wake or scare you. It is just because this is our last day here at the lake." He stops. "I had to come out and have another look at this, drinking it in ... You know what I mean, do you?" He has his arm outstretched and moves it in a semicircle, to stress what he was saying.
Viggo swallows hard, a zealous pang in his heart, grasping what his lover has said. Tomorrow they would be miles apart from each other, not knowing when they would find the time to be together again, alone, undisturbed, like this. A violent moment of emptiness floods through his mind and he feels tears welling up in his throat.
Sean looks into Viggo's face and sees all these emotions running through him. He takes Viggo in his arms and leads him back to the house, to their bedroom.
"Looks like rain," he says, throwing a glance over his shoulder.
