Warnings: A little angsty
Prompt(s): #9: a picture of a dock
Disclaimer: Simply never happened
He's at the end of the dock, toes trailing in the water. He is sad and rightfully, understandably, so. He has slipped away in himself and I am worrying myself sick with wanting to see that spark in his eyes and to hear his mad laugh. The other side of his pain is far across a dark gulf and I can only be there to offer whatever I can. I settle beside him and look straight ahead. There's no light in those blue eyes and no silly cackle but his hand slides near and he takes mine in his own.

So much in such a few lines - beautifully restrained. Many thanks.
