He jumped at the first instance of thunder, spinning around to see if anyone saw, catching no one – not even me – with those brilliant green eyes. I snuck up and goosed him while letting out an insanely high scream. This time he didn't jump but stopped dead in his tracks, a shiver running through his body.

"Need shelter from the storm, Bean? Come with me ... I'll keep you safe ... scared of me?"

He whirled on me and I closed my eyes, anticipating a punch ... but instead his lips touched mine, lingering.

"Not at all ... just waiting for you to come out of hiding."

your lovely piece reminds me of one of the reasons i so love this pairing: they're such equals. the balance of power shifts back and forth so often and so well, and they just match.
